The origin of HOTELES CENTRO CIUDAD HCC (“city centre hotels”) is to be found in the St. Moritz hotel in 1993 and its then manager, Joan Asensio Ros, not as a hotel chain but as an association of city centre hotels who came together with the aim of being able to cope better than they would individually with the flow of bookings for this part of Barcelona from whatever source.
The concept developed over time, from the above-mentioned association of independent hotels to the creation of a hotel chain, in which the hotels came together under a single management and ownership. This meant that out of the hotels which then made up the association only two remained, the St. Moritz and the Regente, to spearhead this new project. This was in 1996.
A year later the first 3-star hotel, the Taber hotel, joined, and this was followed, in order, by the Covadonga Hotel, the newly-built Montblanc Hotel and finally the Open Hotel.
Today the chain is known by its initials, HCC HOTELS, with the aim of creating a brand which fully identifies with the ideas of an excellent site in the city centre and a high level of quality as regards facilities and services.
